As the testosterone level grows, levels of a woman's hormones are not synchronous. A study showed the following side effects of steroids: anabolic steroids can hinder immunomodulating and antiviral actions of androgens and anabolic steroids inhibit production of corticotrophin lymphocytes in the blood immediately after viral infection appeared. Simply put, they can lead to preventing of antibodies production and to a change in immune reactions. Side effects of steroids or cardiovascular risk factors include a change or decrease in glucose tolerance and hyperinsulinism (become resistant to insulin), modifying of lipoproteins (transport of cholesterol in the blood), the proportion of which can lead to cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis (deposition of fatty substances on the inner walls of arteries causes blocking), to increasing of triglycerides levels, hypertension (abnormally high blood pressure), changes in the myocardium (the middle muscular layer of the heart wall) and to growth of concentration of several factors of blood clotting. Blood clots that form in a blood vessel violate the blood stream and can cause damage of the heart muscle. These side effects of steroids are very heavy.
